Rodents can become an unwelcome problem in your home or garden. While traps and professional pest control may be necessary for serious infestations, some fragrant herbs can help make an area less attractive to rodents.  

Their strong scents may interfere with the rodents’ ability to detect food and navigate their surroundings. 

These are some of the best fragrant herbs commonly used to deter rodents; 

Rosemary herbs

These herbs are highly aromatic and are useful in both cooking and gardening. Their woody, fragrant leaves release a distinctive scent that can be used as a natural rodent deterrent. 

Rosemary grows well in sunny conditions and can be planted near outdoor areas, pathways, or around the edges of your garden.

Lavender

Lavender is well known for its calming fragrance, but its strong floral scent may also be useful as part of a rodent-deterrent strategy. Grown around gardens, walkways, and outdoor living spaces where rodents frequent. These herbs, however, should not be considered a guaranteed solution for an established infestation. 

Sage
