Fab gift wrapping finds

Art Director Hema Nana rounds up some stylish buys to pretty up your presents this Christmas

Stationery and shoes are two things I can never have enough of. I’m always on the lookout for cute gift tags and colourful lengths of ribbon that I can add to my stationery drawer. And, every year I look forward to the festive season when I can use all the bits and bobs to wrap presents.

Here are some of my favourite gift-wrapping finds:

Washi tape

Similar to sticky tape, washi tape comes in a variety of patterns and can be used on anything and everything from placing ribbons on gifts to decorating your cutlery and vases. I love the colours of these Christmas packs, from R85 for three rolls, from Sugar Apple.

Twine

I prefer using gift tags instead of cards because, unlike a plain envelope, they add an extra decorative touch to your gifts (click here to check out our free printable tags). I like to pair a few different colours of twine together when tying tags onto my pressies.

Chalk board tags

Chalk boards are a big trend and these fun little tags, R40 for a pack of four (below left) or R95 for a pack of 10 (below right), from Sugar Apple, are almost like an add-on to the main gift. Once the recipient’s unwrapped their present, they could reuse the tag as a herb marker. Two gifts in one, what could be better?

Paper bags

Planning on giving many little gifts within one big box? I like using favour bags like these to wrap the smaller presents; they add colour and make opening the gift more exciting.
