Cape Town architect June Henry has been working in her own practice for many years. Set on a mountainside, this beautifully proportioned, three-storey house that she designed has a contemporary façade that belies its very spacious interiors; the varying heights of the roof break up the structure into separate units to avoid a monolithic look. To make the most of both the sea and mountain views and to allow for lots of natural light, June has included many large windows into the design; a unique touch are the stylish long clerestory windows above the kitchen cabinets. The house is also in line with the new regulation on energy efficiency as it boasts both solar heating and natural cross ventilation.
