Experience Tokara in all its spring splendour when this acclaimed family wine and olive estate opens its extensive farm garden and new Adamastor Moss Garden to the public as part of Garden Town Stellenbosch from 21 – 30 October 2022.

Take a self-guided tour of the farm’s private garden and meander through tranquil walks dotted with sculptures by local artists. The Adamastor Moss Garden, the dedicated indigenous garden, textures in the cork oak forest and fresh scents of spring flowers wafting from the terraces of the picking garden are among the breathtaking experiences that will appeal to all the senses. The Tokara farm garden is open for self-guided tours between 09h00 and 16h00 from 21 – 30 October. The entry fee of R50 per car is payable at the farm gate.

Adamastor Moss Garden

Book your spot on a guided tour of the Adamastor Moss Garden and see firsthand how sandstone and granite from the local Cape region can be blended with indigenous mosses and fynbos to recreate the ambience of a classical Japanese garden. The half hour walking tour led by Gert van Tonder, the creator of the moss garden, is an active discussion of Japanese landscape design, the ecology of the Cape Fold Mountains and the construction process through which the moss garden is taking shape. The tours of the moss garden are available on weekends only on 22, 23, 29 and 30 October at R50 per person. Booking is essential at Guided Tour and Talk on Moss Garden – Garden Town (visitstellenbosch.org)

Wine and olive oil tastings will be on offer at the Tokara Delicatessen for the duration of the festival.

Garden Town Stellenbosch, an initiative of Visit Stellenbosch, is a 10-day festival in and around this famous winelands town, offering a host of activities from open gardens, horticultural tours and flower art to wine tastings, dining and hiking.
