We chat to accomplished cook and author of Perfect Parties, Janet Kohler, whose delicious recipes are featured in our December 2015 issue

What made you decide to write a cookbook?
It has been a childhood dream of mine as I have been sharing recipes since I can remember. I am obsessed with recipes and constantly seeking new ways of improving them.

If you weren’t a cook and author what would you be?
Probably a full-time economist if my father had his way (which is what I studied), but I am always drawn to creative challenges so probably interior decorating.

Who or what is your biggest inspiration?
My mom and grandmother who loved their homes and making people feel welcome.

What has been the highlight of your career?
Winning the international Gourmand award for top entertaining cookbook in South Africa and top three in the world.

Pretty, pastel and understated.
