You can use air purifiers to freshen up your home but did you know that plants do exactly the same job? Here are three of our favourite air purifying indoor plants that also add a beautiful touch of greenery to your home.

1. Spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum)

The spider plant has white and pale-green striped leaves. It’s easy to grow and thrives in a wide range of conditions.

TIP: Low humidity, moist soil and bright indirect sunlight will encourage growth.

2. Chinese evergreen (Aglaonema)

 

This plant produces oxygen and purifies air by removing chemicals. It’s shade tolerant and has beautiful leaves.

TIP: It prefers bright light with low humidity and moderate watering. Keep the soil barely moist at all times (damp soil will hamper growth). Best soil for this plant is made up of one part garden soil, one part peat/humus and one part coarse sand.

3. Peace lily (Spathiphyllum)

 

The Peace lily is best in a shady position. Water it approximately once a week when the soil is dry.

TIP: To support the high humidity level it requires, place pebbles or gravel in the drip tray, but make sure the pot is sitting on the gravel and not in the water.
