Potato stamps are an easy and fun craft to try with the whole family. Use leftovers from your potato harvest or older potatoes from the back of your cupboard that would otherwise go to waste. Use different shapes and colours to make your own unique patterns.

You will need:

  • Potatoes
  • Pencil
  • Knife
  • Paint
  • Paper

Steps:

  • Cut the potatoes in half.
  • Using a pencil, mark the shape you want for your stamps. Sharp lines are typically easier to carve than round shapes.
  • Use the knife to carve out the shape by removing pieces of the potato surrounding the shape until it is raised and clearly visible.
  • Dip the end of the potato stamp in a thin layer of water-based paint and stamp onto the paper to leave the shape impression.
