BOUND- TO-BOUNDLESS

The artist, Carmen Clews, explains it as the exploration that delves into the transformative power of rope work as a spiritual embodied practice, challenging preconceptions in Japanese culture.

The exhibition takes place at 6 Spin Street Restaurant Gallery, Church Square, Cape Town. Book on (0)21 461 0666 or email [email protected].

ESTHER MAHLANGU- THEN I KNEW I WAS GOOD AT PAINTING

The iconic mama Esther Mahlanhu showcases her art at the equally iconic Iziko South African National Gallery. The art exhibition is happening from February 18 to August 11 2024—Esther, whose decades-long career is explored in this expansive iconic exhibition.

The geometric patterns filled in with bright colours and a distinctive style make Esther a stand-out artist, and this exhibition showcases her decade-long art designs from the early 90s.

METAMORPHOSIS

By artist Walter Oltmann. Oltmann’s sculptures evoke a cosmic and eternal quality that defies the nature of both insect and human existence. Walter seems to transcend the terrestrial intersection that contemplates the passage of time through the impermanent of immortality.

Indeed, it is a curious basis for looking at the world through metamorphosis. It is happening at 4 Steenberg Road, Opposite the US Embassy, Tokai, Cape Town. The exhibition is from November 16 2023, ending on August 14 2024.

Art gives a unique perspective and examines how others see the world. The different elements that come together to curate such exhibitions are genuinely a must-see.
