Coconut oil is one of the healthiest choices for cooking, but there are other ways to use coconut oil around the house. The oil itself is very versatile and can be used in a variety of household tasks.
1. Condition or restore wood furniture
The coconut oil can help condition and restore wood furniture, making it look shiny and new. Simply rub a small amount of coconut oil into the wood with a soft cloth, let it dry, and wipe the area clean.
2. Prevent water stains
If you have hard water stains on your shower doors or windows, coconut oil can help to remove them. Mix equal parts of coconut oil and lemon juice, then apply the mixture to the stained area using a cloth. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes, then wipe it away with a clean cloth.
3. Keep appliances running strong
Coconut oil can be used to keep the motors of your appliances running smoothly. Simply rub a small amount of coconut oil onto the motor with a cloth. The oil can also be used to polish stainless steel and bronze appliances.
4. Remove sticky labels
If you have a sticky label that won’t come off, then try using coconut oil. Rub a small amount of coconut oil onto the label with a cloth, then let it sit for a few minutes. The label should come off easily after that.
5. Fix squeaky door
To eliminate squeaks from door hinges, try using coconut oil instead of other oils, as it is easier to apply. To fix a squeaky door, apply coconut oil to the hinges and open and close the door a few times to work the oil into the crevices. Let it sit overnight. Wipe away any excess oil, and enjoy the quiet!
