What you’ll need:
- Uncooked eggs
- 4 cups water
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- Concentrated Food colouring, any colour of your choice
- A muffin pan
Step 1: Prepare your egg colours
Pour a cup of boiling water into each muffin pan. It’s easier to dunk an entire egg into a muffin pan.
Step 2: Add food colouring
Squeeze a few drops of concentrated food colouring into each muffin pan cavity and stir with a spoon until the colour is distributed evenly. If you’re feeling creative, you can mix colours to create more colourful options.
Step 3: Add the vinegar
Add 1 tablespoon of vinegar to each prepared colour, stirring to dissolve.
Step 3: Start colouring your eggs!
Using a metal spoon, lower your eggs into the coloured water. You can do a quick dip for a lighter colour, or you can let it soak in a dye bath to get a darker shade.
Step 4: Let them dry
Set the coloured eggs aside to dry. You can use a cooling grid or place them back on the egg carton; it all depends on you.
Step 5: Decorate your eggs
After the coloured eggs have dried, you can leave them as they are or add some decorations. You can draw Easter bunnies or get even more creative for Easter.
Whether you try the food colouring method or another method, just have fun with your Easter egg dyeing. This is a good DIY project to enjoy with your kids.
