Different types of walls around the garden and yard are created for different purposes. Walls are used for many different purposes, most notably for security purposes or to protect your garden. Ancient gardeners took great pleasure in building and designing garden walls called the Ha-ha walls or retaining walls. In modern times, gardeners use these clever structures in and around their gardens and homes.
One of the wall’s greatest benefits is its ability to provide an uninterrupted view from the garden without compromising security around your yard. The creativity of modern garden designers enables the creation of a permeable barrier within gardens.

Building retaining (ha-ha) walls
Using just a few materials, you can easily create a sunken fence wall that provides a barrier for your yard or garden. The length of the ha-ha wall will depend on the size of the area it needs to enclose.
Step 1:
Before constructing your fence, consider the surrounding area. Ensure that the dug hole is deep enough to accommodate the rocks. Position the rocks to create the base layer of the hole.
Step 2:
Built up the body of the wall using a mixture of large and medium-sized rocks around the hole. Set the first base rocks with sand. The rocks should tilt back slightly, creating a slight incline for when you build up. Align them well inside the ditch, checking with your straightedge.
Step 3:
After backfilling the space with small drainage stones along the entire length of the wall. This helps allow water to pass through into the drainage layer without causing any damage to the wall.
Step 4:
Complete the wall pattern using well-fitted blocks until you achieve a flat surface. Apply construction adhesive to the cap units to ensure the wall remains sturdy. At the front of the wall, add fill dirt to cover at least half of the blocks. Over time, your garden grass or ground covers will blend seamlessly with the wall. Be sure to choose your plants thoughtfully so they complement the landscape effectively.
