No Mexican feast is complete without homemade guacamole and this easy recipe from Braai the Beloved Country, by Jean Nel, R185, (Jacana Media) is perfect for any festive occassion

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 ripe avocados
  • 2 ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • Large handful of fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 red chilli, chopped
  • Juice from 1 lemon
  • Juice from 1 lime
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

METHOD

  1. Halve and destine the avocados, then scoop the flesh into a bowl.
    2. Add the chopped tomato, coriander, chilli, lemon and lime juice.
    3. Mix well and serve.
