Wood doors can be affected by various sources of damage. One of the major sources is rain. It’s important to protect your wood door from rain damage, and this is how to do it:
- Varnish your doors: A good coat of paint or varnish can reinforce the surface of your wood door. This, in turn, protects it against water damage caused by rain. Varnish is, however, a little stronger than paint.
- Use a door sweep: A door sweep protects your door from below. By getting one, you can create a seal at the bottom of your door. This seal helps prevent water from seeping in from below.
- Get a Storm Door: Although expensive, storm doors are the outer doors in front of your existing door. If your door is facing oncoming rain, it is the perfect option to get. The storm doors will block the rain so that it doesn’t get through your wooden door.
