Autumn home maintenance tasks
In many parts of the country, autumn is the perfect season to tackle general home maintenance projects because the weather is usually dry and temperatures are not too cold, not too hot. Before starting your seasonal home maintenance checklist, examine your home’s interior and exterior. Most of these tasks can be accomplished by doing your own DIY maintenance. These include;
Landscaping: Autumn is the season of falling leaves. Rake leaves or debris that is on your yard and lawn. Remove leaves and debris from gutters and downspouts. Remove any nests hanging from the exterior of your house.
Interior inspection: This is the perfect time to check the heating system and, if needed, schedule an inspection before the cold season comes. Check the fireplace for damage or hazards and clean the fireplace flues. Replace the batteries in smoke detectors. Check for any leaks.
Home Exterior Repairs: Look for cracks and gaps in the driveway or walkway of the yard. You can also touch up the exterior with paint. Inspect the roof for missing, loose, or damaged parts. Clean the window and make sure the outside of your house is ready to tackle the season.
Some maintenance tasks may require you to get professional assistance to ensure they are done correctly, as you don’t want to cause any more problems with your maintenance tasks.
