DIY aroma stones for your home

Aroma stones are a fragrant delicacy that one can craft with their own hands with the items that one might already have in their home.

These are cost effective gems that will keep your home smelling good for a long time. With cornstarch as a few simple ingredients, you can get your home smelling like your favourite essential oils and fragrance with a few DIY aroma stones.

What you will need:

1 cup baking powder
1 cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon of salt
1 1⁄4 cups lukewarm water
Food colouring (as needed)
10–15 drops of your favourite essential oils
A mould
Food colouring

Instructions:

1. Mix the base:

Mix all the dry ingredients together, in a bowl 1 cup of cornstarch, powder and a teaspoon of salt.
Slowly stir water into the bowl with mixed dry ingredients until a thick clay forms.
If the dough is too sticky, you can add more cornstarch to make it tougher

2. Add colour:

Separate the dough according to the colours you have decided to make.
Put a drop of food colouring in each section.
Mix the dough with your fingers until the colour is dissolved into the dough.

3. Add scent:

Add your favourite essential oil drops to the dough and stir thoroughly to distribute the fragrance evenly by rubbing the dough with your fingers and palm.

4. Shape the stones:

Shape by hand or press into silicone molds for clean, decorative forms.

4. Dry the stones:

Allow the moulds to sit and dry at room temperature for at least 24–48 hours until the stones harden completely. Avoid placing them in direct sunlight to preserve the scent.

Once dry, gently pop out the aroma stones from the moulds and store them in an airtight jar until use.

5. Display your stones:

When you are ready to use, place your fragrant stones in a space where their aroma will be most effective in drawers, closets, bathrooms, or your car for a gentle and natural fragrance.
