Here are a few reasons they’re great to add to your garden

Super easy to care for

Butterfly bush plants are considered drought-tolerant; however, they respond well to regular watering practices. For your plants to bloom continuously, you need to deadhead their old bloom spikes. These flowers will bloom most in warm conditions. The flowers will overwinter during the cold season; this means they can be pruned to encourage glorious blooms on their next season’s growth.

They really do attract butterflies

The large, fragrant, multicoloured blooms of the blooming shrub will attract many butterflies and other pollinators to your garden. The reason they draw butterflies is that the flowers are high in nectar. Nectar is a staple for inviting butterflies to any garden. Butterfly bush flowers won’t feed caterpillars; instead, they provide nectar to adult butterflies.

Sun-loving flowers

The more sun, the more blooms. Butterfly bushes do best in full sun, needing as much sun as you can provide. Unlike other flowers, they don’t do well in full shade and will require well-drained soil for optimum growth. When you decide to transplant your bush plant, make sure not to plant the roots any deeper than they were in the corresponding pot. This is to avoid planting too deeply and creating susceptibility to overwatering. You need to fertilise your growing butterfly bush at the beginning of spring to give them rich, natural, and organic nutrients.
