Inspiring website – Apartment Therapy

Production manager Carla Wolber shares one of her favourite websites for daily doses of makeovers, house tours, renovation diaries and all beautiful things home-related

One of my all-time favourite websites is Apartment Therapy. Although it’s a US-based website and a lot (not all) of the homes and products featured are American, there are still countless ideas to steal. Although you might not be able to buy the gorgeous products on the site you can definitely get some great tips on how to decorate your own home.

My favourite sections to browse are Renovation Diaries, Tours, Before & After, DIY and Small Spaces, but of course, there are more areas that are equally inspiring.

They’re also very active on Facebook, linking to the latest articles on their website, as well as Pinterest where they have 69 boards with over 9 700 pins to get your decorative juices flowing.

I live in a small apartment and struggle with storage and lack of a dishwasher in my tiny kitchen, but 74m2 is massive in comparison to an apartment in New York with a tiny galley-style kitchen. I learnt this when following the Renovation Diary of Jennifer’s Kitchen.

She took her cramped NYC kitchen from this (below left) to this (below right).

What I love is that the homeowner, Jennifer, writes honestly about her experience. She shares the lessons she learnt, what the renovation really cost and also gives her top tips for design, planning and execution. These are all things anyone can learn from, no matter where you live.

The upcycling and renovation features are also wonderful. This renovation saw a backyard turn from bare (below left) to cosy (below right). And as I don’t have a garden either, this is the stuff of dreams…

If you’re looking for great South African inspiration, our Pinterest boards have some gorgeous pics that will have you itching to spruce up your interiors and get stuck into the garden.

Happy browsing,
Carla
