4 basin trends to watch

Planning on revamping your bathroom? One of the easiest ways to give it a fresh look is to change one of the most used fixtures – the basin. Jasmin Kraneveldt of leading sanitary ware and tile retailer, Bathroom Bizarre, takes us through the latest basin design trends

1. WAFER THIN

Slim sanitary ware is all the rage at the moment. “Mostly made from quartz, which has been a huge player in 2015, these basins offer smooth and elegantly refined contours that are the epitome of modern bathroom design,” says Jasmin.

2. STANDING TALL

Pedestal sinks originated in the early 1900s, but remain a timeless classic for any bathroom. Jasmin explains, “freestanding pedestal basins are a great way to make a strong visual statement in a bathroom thanks to their distinctive aesthetic, and they’re a great option for small-spaces”.

3. MATERIAL MATTERS

Manufacturers are designing basins in a wide variety of materials, from glass to quartz, copper and even ceramic painted with a metallic finish. “People are no longer satisfied with cookie cutter homes – they want a space that is unique to them, and the bathroom is no different,” says Jasmin.

4. A TIGHT SQUEEZE

Wall-mounted basins are ideal for tight corners and small spaces. If you’re in need of storage, Jasmin suggests incorporating clever solutions such as a built in hand towel rail beneath the basin.
